Among the Speed Lovers in this modestly budgeted ""regional"" is real-life stock car racer Fred Lorenzen. William McGaha, the son of a mechanic, idolizes Lorenzen and dreams of the day that he, too, will excell on the race track. He gets his chance during a major stock-car competition in Atlanta. Most of the climactic scenes are culled from color news footage of actual racing events.
